It’s really about trust. You don’t trust someone that you’ve never heard speak more than 20 words. 

But content isn’t going to solve everything. Just like hearing 20,000 words out of someone’s mouth won’t automatically make that person trustworthy. 

In fact – it might be just the opposite! The more the person speaks, the less you trust him! 

The good news is that you have the opportunity to decide who you want to be to your customers. It isn’t just thrust upon you. You can tell the world who you are and why you are doing what you are doing. You can have a consistent message that shows the integrity of your business. 

Trust is earned. Trust can be earned through producing quality goods and services for people. In turn, those people speak highly of you – that’s word of mouth. 

But trust can also be earned through the hard work of reaching out and talking to people. Telling them what you do, and sharing it in more than one way. That’s the other side of marketing – and it often starts with content. 

If you need to earn trust from people who you’d like to do business with, consider creating content regularly – and make sure your prospective customers are getting that content (it isn’t very useful if people aren’t reading it, watching it, or listening to it). It’s a great way to bridge the gap so that people know who you are and that you can be trusted to solve their problems.
